In 1939, the small tool making company FORJAS TAURUS was founded in
Porto Alegre, Brazil. In 1941, FORJAS TAURUS produced their first revolver,
and soon became an important name in the South American market. By 1968,
the company was ready to tackle the North American market. It will be
of interest to note that SMITH & WESSON had just been purchased
the BANGHOR PUNTA conglomerate. In 1970, the same conglomerate acquired
FORJAS TAURUS, and during the following seven years, the two gun manufacturers
exchanged technologies and production techniques. In 1977, FORJAS TAURUS
was bought back by the original owner and around the same time, the
BERETTA organization won a huge contract in 1974 to produce arms for
the Brazillian army and government. When the contract came to an end,
BERETTA sold the entire factory to FORJUS TAURUS, including all machines,
tools and with the transfer of many skilled workers.
FORJUS TAURUS had well and truly entered into the gun market! In 1989,
Taurus celebrated its 50th anniversary, and by 1994, FORJAS TAURUS received
the prestigious industry standard ISO 9001 for its products.
The Taurus BB Guns top quality replica guns and are not the cheap imported models found on markets or other websites and can only fire the specific amunition being plastic ball bearings ( BB'S) for this reason you do not need to hold a licience to use the air pistols and air rifles we sell. Air Soft Guns® are, apart from some scaled down pocket models, 1/1 scale replicas of the actual guns manufactured by such famous names as Colt, Smith & Wesson, and Walther, to name but a few.
Firing 6mm BB plastic bullets, these replicas are intended for 'plinking' and general fun gunning. The power is measured in joules, one joule being the maximum power of any model and with some as low as 0.02 joules. To provide a comparison, 0.5 joules equals the bounce back force of a tennis ball dropped onto a hard surface from 1 metre high. 1 joule is equal to 1.4ft lb. Manufactured mostly in plastic and high impact ABS resin, (some with metal components), Air Soft Guns® are accurate in every detail to that of the actual official firearm models.
