Lyalvale Express introduces the new Somerset range of high
power game cartridges. Utilizing the most advanced technology from the French powder manufacturer S.N.P.E a new formulation of the Vectan A1 propellant was developed specifically for the Somerset. The powder has been developed to reduce the recoil associated with heavy load high performance cartridges without reducing calorific values or energy. In light of this the Somerset achieves optimum speed and a faster barrel time. To maintain the velocity required for distance quarry and achieve an effective kill the shot used in the Somerset is harder than a normal game cartridge. All Somerset Cartridges have Lead shot with 5.0% Antimony and other hardeners. This shot is made for us in Italy by a specialist lead shot Manufacturing Facility to very high standards of sphericity, grading and improved surface finish. Currently the Somerset is only available in two sizes, 32gm and 36gm both shot size 5 only. The Somerset Game is available in a true 65mm case suitable for English 2 1/2 inch chambers whilst the Somerset High Pheasant is in a 70mm case suitable for all 2/ 3/4 inch chambers. As with all Lyalvale Express cartridges using the Vectan range of propellants the Somerset is endorsed with the Vectan guarantee of quality and consistency. Thus ensuring that time after time the Somerset will perform to the maximum, season after season, ensuring complete satisfaction for the most discerning of game shooters at the most demanding of shoots.
